How long does my order take?

Standard items displayed on our website are normally delivered within 10 - 15 working day. More complex items such as eternity rings, bespoke items and vintage jewellery can take up to 30 days. Loose diamonds can be delivered within 7 working days.

 

Can I have my item sooner than this?

In many cases we can meet shorter urgent deadlines, please just contact us and ask about the specific item you want to order.

 

How is the item delivered?

All our items are delivered in discreet shipment packaging (Royal Mail for UK and FedEx for non-UK delivery) with no indication of what is inside. Return address is listed as "FCD London" for insurance purposes. However, international orders that cross country borders comply with local rules about declaration of value. The actual jewellery is contained in a luxurious gift box with protective outer packaging.

All items shipped within the UK are delivered via Royal Mail Special Delivery*, fully insured. Our global orders are delivered via FedEx*, again fully insured until they have been delivered to you.

 

Can you ship to another address?

Yes we can ship to an alternative delivery address, but we will need some additional forms of identification and proof of address if the payment was made by a debit or credit card.

 

Can I collect my item? 

Orders can be collected from our London showroom, as long as this has been agreed with the sales team (see contact us). The person collecting must be the person who paid for the goods and must be able to prove their identity. 

 

VAT Payable And UK Tax Free

UK and EU Orders (EU Clients):

Customers in the UK will be subject to UK VAT of 20%. Customers based in Germany will be subject to German VAT of 19%. Customers in Sweden will be subject to Swedish VAT of 25%. All orders purchased by customers who live inside the European Union (EU) will be subject to the UK VAT rate of 20%.

International Orders (Non EU Clients):
If you have purchased your item from our London Showroom, you are entitled to claim the VAT back within 3 months from the date of purchase. We will provide you with all the necessary paperwork at the time of purchase to claim your refund.
If you have ordered the item by phone or over the internet and we are exporting your order outside the EU, then you will not be charged any VAT. However, you may be subject to local import duties and taxes as the item enters your country.

BFPO Address based outside EU

If your BFPO address is outside the EU, your VAT is eligible for refund and this refund will be processed upon our checking the details of your BFPO address against the British Forces list at https://www.gov.uk/bfpo/find-a-bfpo-number

Channel Island Orders

Customers from the Channel Islands (including Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark) are eligible for tax free shopping when purchasing from First Carat Diamonds. All orders will be shipped directly with Royal Mail Special Delivery and will be exempt from UK VAT. For further information contact our sales team on +44 (0) 20 3868 6311.

BFPO Addresses Based within the EU
All BFPO order totals for delivery within the EU will still include VAT, as will your payment. If you qualify for VAT free purchasing the VAT will be refunded. Before we can issue a VAT refund for an order dispatched to a BFPO address which is within the EU, UK VAT legislation requires us to obtain a "certificate of entitlement" confirming that the items have been dispatched to, and received by a qualifying body or person as set out in paragraph 14.4 of HM Revenue and Customs Notice 725 dated January 2014. FCD will accept a copy of the order receipt which was dispatched with the item(s), signed and stamped by the head or acting head of the embassy, high commission, consulate, visiting force contingent or international organisation, with evidence of the official status of the signatory.

For goods which are dispatched to BFPO customers in Cyprus or Germany First Carat Diamond requires a certificate from the person placing the order, uniquely identifying the supply for which relief is claimed, and claiming entitlement as follows:

For British forces in Cyprus - under Article 14(1)(g) of EC Council Directive 77/388/EEC, or for a visiting force in Germany - under Article 15(10) of EC Council Directive 77/388/EEC.

First Carat Diamond requires this certificate in accordance with Section 14 of HM Revenue and Customs Notice 725 dated January 2014. If this certificate isn't supplied, First Carat Diamond can't make a refund. Please send the stamped receipt or certificate, quoting all the qualifying order numbers for which VAT has not been refunded to:

All orders placed on this website or through FCD will be subject to acceptance in accordance with these terms and conditions.

The 'Order Now' stage sets out the final details of your order. Following this, we will send to you an 'Acknowledgment of Purchase' email detailing the products you have purchased.

We do not provide direct access to the details of your purchase on this website. You are therefore advised to print out the 'Acknowledgment of Purchase' email for your own records. If you wish to obtain specific details of your previous purchases please Contact Us.

Delivery

We currently deliver products to anywhere globally where FedEx provides a normal delivery service.

Delivery charges and estimated timescales are specified when you place an order. We make every effort to deliver goods within the estimated timescales, however delays are occasionally inevitable due to unforeseen factors. FCD shall be under no liability for any delay or failure to deliver the products within estimated timescales. Orders can be collected by hand, directly from us, with an appropriate proof of Identity such as passport, driving license, etc.Risk of loss and damage of products passes to you on the date when the products are delivered.

Returns and Substitutions
We provide the option of a full NO QUESTIONS ASKED refund within 30 days of delivery (extended returns policy for items purchased between 1st November and 31st December 2015 for return by 31st January 2016 inclusive). This returns policy is limited to a) all items where the diamond is priced below £25,000 excluding VAT (items above this threshold subject to refund within 7 days of delivery) b) items that have not been customized from their original state as displayed on the website (see 4.4 below). Please contact us to discuss this further, as management has the ability to waive these limitations on a case by case basis. In the unlikely event that the goods turn out to be faulty, damaged or different from those the customer ordered, FCD will make good the item free of charge or refund the item in full.

Returns of orders will be confirmed only where you have returned the item in its original condition, unworn and together with its original packaging and certificate where applicable. Non-return of the certificate will be charged at £130 for a replacement certificate and you may be charged an additional replacement cost for packaging and any other collateral material. Please note that clients based outside of the UK who are returning their items will need to bear the costs of shipment and insurance. The cost will vary depending on the country where the item is dispatched from as well as the value of the item.

In the case for bespoke orders. Should the client not like their jewellery, we would be happy to remount the diamond (where one or more were selected) in a design of their choice, without charge, except for any additional metal, diamonds or labour required and a nominal £50 administration and processing charge.

All returns are subject to verification and authentication by the FCD team. Purchased items with any element of personalization, engraving, bespoke items, designs by or for the client, may be considered for return and refund on a case by case basis. For Health and Safety reasons, earrings will not be considered for return. For security reasons we recommend that you do not use the name First Carat Diamond anywhere on the packaging of your returned item because it includes the term “diamonds”. To arrange a return we would require you to contact your FCD Customer Services representative who will provide you with further instructions. Note: FCD will not be responsible for loss or damage of return shipments. We cannot be held liable for any loss or damage you may suffer as a result of your return or late delivery or cancellation of your order, so we advise that you retain all proof of posting documentation. All Ring and Jewellery sizes and measurements are approximate but we endeavour to ensure that the sizes and measurements are accurate. If you do not know the ring size, please leave the ring size as “I Don't Know”, and we will make the ring a standard ring size (between L – M). Once you have received the ring and are able to determine the correct size, you can send it back to us for a free first resize. However if you requested a specific ring size with your initial order and this turns out to be incorrect, the second resizing will be charged at our standard rate of £45 including VAT which covers the cost of laser resizing for a better quality finish and added strength. Resizing
First Carat Diamond is pleased to offer the 1st resize of any ring purchase for free as long as the resize takes place within the return policy range.
Rings can only be sized 3 sizes either way from the original size for free. A resize outside of this range will incur a £45 fee (inclusive of VAT).
After a ring has been resized, it is ineligible for a refund or exchange.
After your first free resizing, any further resizes will be charged at £45 (inclusive of VAT).
Engraving may fade in the resizing process so the customer will have to pay if the engraving needs to be re-done thereafter.

All our sizing can be adjusted free of charge so there is no problem if you need a chain shortened or a ring size changed. Simply contact us and we will arrange this free of charge.
